THE BAD, BAD MAN AWARDS

ROUND 43

10 August 2007

Veronica & Logan - If You Want It To Be Good Girl (Get Yourself A Bad Boy)

Cec: The editing is fantastic! I love that Weevil/Logan shoulderbump followed by the zoom. I love the fast vuts and the scenes of Logan misbehaving with all the scenes of Veronica and Logan having fun! That sequence at 1:07 was AWESOME! The part where Kendall walks out of the house went perfectly with the music! In addition to being extremely well done, this video is also extremely fun!
Kaycee:  Awesome video! Loved the flashes at 1:10 and 2:22! The editing on this was so perfect: all the fast cuts and effects looked so cool! This video was so fun and upbeat..so different from what I normally see in a Logan/Veronica video. I had so much fun watching this!

Buffy & Spike - I'm Not Your Girlfriend
Cec: Awesome overlays! I like the white flashes you used in a couple of places. The editing is wonderful! All the quick cuts and effects are awesome! I really love the glowy effect you used!
Kaycee: This is one of the best Spuffy vids I've seen! I liked the "think i'm done" at 23 seconds. The editing was very impressive! You kept everything moving quickly and used some awesome effects. You used so many different scenes that went perfectly with the lyrics. Great job!

BtVS & AtS Ladies - I Don't Need a Man

Cec: Love those glows and those effects! The shaky camera this is so great! You did a great job of mixing the scenes from the original video with the scenes from the show. It can be so hard to mix them and keep a unified style throughout, but you definitely pulled it off! So cute!
Kaycee: This was too fun! I really liked the idea for this video. The way you incorporated the orignal music video with the clips from the shows was so cool! The zooming and moving screens looked awesome! Great editing..this was such an entertaining video!

ROUND 44

24 August 2007

Go Fish - Take me out

Cec: Great effects! I love the way you use them, not just for the cool look of them, but also to go with the beats of the song! I epspecially love that wipe transition (luminance wip, maybe?). I love the way all of your videos are so original! I watch a lot of videos, and seeing something so new is always welcome! I love the sequences in this like the one from 2:08 to 2:13!
Kaycee: Excellent episodic! I loved the bright color effect you had on this video! The effect with the double scenes toward one minute looked awesome! The part with the principal wagging his finger at Buffy was too funny. The editing was so quick and spot-on with the music. This was great!!

Veronica & Logan - Secret Smile
Cec: I love that you tried some new kind of things in this. It turned out so well! The effect that recurs a few times near the beginning (example :08) is very cool and perfect for that sound effect! And I don't think I've ever even seen that done before. You have a great mix of angst with the sweet and the sweet angst. Excellent effects all over the place here! That effect at 3:32 (and a couple of other places too) is a very nice touch. I can't even describe the mood of this video. The way the images of them together are mixed in with the images of Logan being wat violent is just.... jarring ... in a very good way. I also love those scenes where one item is colored and the rest is b/w.
Kaycee: By far, one of my favorite Logan/Veronica videos! The editing and effects were too good. I loved the shaky zoom effect you used in this video...it matched the music very well. The glowing on the clips also looked great! The alpha transition at 2:04 was awesome! The song was a nice fit for these two. Cool sequence at the end!

Spike and Angel - Goodbye
Cec: I love that place 51 seconds into the video where the song says "you" and the video zooms in on Angel's face. That just looked really good there! I like the way you kept revisiting the big fight scene from Destiny without ever staying there too long. I really love the way the strongest colors in this video are black, white, and red.
Kaycee: This was such a cool Angel and Spike video! I liked the "just me and you" part at the beginning. Starting at 1 minute, the effect you used looked awesome! You picked a song that was so applicable to Angel's and Spike's relationship. I loved all the action and intensity!

And great job integrating the original music video with the scenes from the shows. I loved the fast part at 1:10! You kept the pace quick and upbeat! I had so much fun watching this video!

Buffy Dancing - She's a Maniac
Cec: I like the way you use stills and colors in this. The video is very fun, and (dare I say it?) very 80s! I love the way you combine all the different dancing scenes and turn this video into one big party! Love the party with Xander on the guitar vamping!
Kaycee: The stills you had on the beats looked awesome! This was a cute idea for a video and I enjoyed watching all the girls get their "groove on". I liked the part that said "she's dancing like she's never danced before" where you showed Dawn and the scoobies gawking at her, lol. This vid was so much fun!

Great job keeping the pace quick and using such a variety of color effects. I enjoyed getting to see so many different clips of these two. Such a sweet video!

Kaycee: I enjoyed watching this upbeat Glory video! The clips moved quickly and the beat of the song gave the vid a nice pace. I loved the "I know it's you" parts...very fitting to the show! So much action and craziness..this was too good!

Veronica & Logan - Fairytale Gone Bad
Cec: Perfect song! I loved what you chose for "I can't be your man." All your lyrics matches, actually, are spot on perfect! I love the effects and editing! I love the way halfway into each chorus there are quick drumbeat and you use that awesome kind of overlay! This is such an accurate, honest look at the good and the bad in their relationship! I am (as always) so impressed!
Kaycee: Excellent Logan/Veronica video! The flashy effect at about 1:15 and 1:56 were awesome! I liked how this was a break-up video..I don't see a lot of those for this couple, and you did a wonderful job with this one. The song choice was perfect and the editing of the clips looked great!

ROUND 46

6 November 2007

Alex Mahone - Otherside
Cec: I loved that transition about 40 seconds in. It sounded perfect with that sound effect. You had so many great lyrical interpretations. They were excellent matches without being painfully obvious or anything. The overlay at about 2:33 was awesome! The editing about 3/4 of the way in was perfect. You just took the chaotic feel of the song and ran with it!
Kaycee: I loved the part at 1:26! The way you edited the clips gave everything a jumpy, disjointed look, which matched the music perfectly! I also liked what you did at 2:30 with the overlays. Everything moved so quickly and I can tell this took a lot of work to make...this is one of my favorites of yours!

Lincoln - Silence
Cec: The effects are perfect, and so is the editing. I am loving this. Everything matches the sound of the music perfectly. I love the transitions and the parts where the scene goes still for a second before the transition. I love the way you cut from place to place within the same scene. The trippy feel is perfect.
Kaycee: I loved this vid! The effect on the beginning sequence was very cool! I loved the flashback sequence at about 1 minute. The effects you used, like the glows, looked so great! I also thought the song was a nice choice: it captured the mood of this character so well. The end when you had him thinking back on his life before he died was very touching. Excellent job!

BtVS Men - I'm Too Sexy
Cec: I love that you took a lot of the hot shirtless moments, but you also included a lot of the funny, awkward moments, especially the "disco dancing." I like the white flashes and all the swooning girls. Funny stuff!
Kaycee: This was too fun! I liked the "too sexy for my hat part..lol. All the white flashes and quick clips changes on the beats looked so good! You picked some awesome scenes of the men of the Buffyverse. Great idea for an ending!

Kaycee: Man, this was amazing! Some of the effects you used I've never seen before, and they went so perfectly with the feel of the song. You did a spectacular job editing this video and being so original! The part where Faith was handing Angel the knife and you overlayed other scenes looked so awesome. I'm not a huge Faith fan, but this video kicked ass!

Angel - Do You Love Me?
Cec: This. is. hilarious. I love the way you use the bloopers to really get the craziest possible dancing. The "watch me now" with the disco... that was awesome. The lighting effects are gorgeous.
Kaycee: Such a cute video! You found a lot of great clips of Angel/David goofing around. I liked the orange coloring and box around the video! Very fun and entertaining!

ROUND 48

12 December 2007

Michael & Sara - Soulmates Never Die
Cec: The beginning is perfect. It sets everything up, from giving an idea of their relationship, to establishing that awesome overlays effect you use throughout the video! Awesome use of the lyrics and the sounds of the music. Damn you're good! Watching this just breaks my heart. (And I don't even watch this show. I'd probably be sobbing if I did! lol) I love the lighting effects and the overlays. I have no idea how things can be complex without ever being distracting! I like the way the video kept revisiting the scene of him having that breakdown. I wish I could use effects the way you do. I feel bad about myself now! haha! You rock. Thanks for submitting this.
Kaycee: Excellent video! I loved the "clouds we're seeing" part. The editing was so fast paced and jumpy, which went with the music flawlessly. Cool part at 1:30! Also, all of the blurring and glow effects were so pretty. You impress me more with every new video!

Kaycee: Awesome Spuffy vid! The song was absolutely perfect for Spike and his feelings toward Buffy. I liked how you used stills in this video..very good idea! The yellow coloring looked so nice. You did such a good job setting a angsty mood for this video. I loved it!

ROUND 49

4 January 2008

Buffy & Angel - Missing
Cec: Love the black and whites. Love the white flashes. Love the lyric matches! Great story here. I love the way you have it set up with the flashbacks and the scenes of Buffy walking alone in Angel's apartment. I especially liked the part that said "you're long gone ... and I can't move on." The slow motion sequence was great. And so was the part where she knocks on his door and imagines Angel opening it.

Cec: Awesome effects. The glows are gorgeous. I love that the video is interesting immediately. No long intro here! Great scene manipulations! I love those transitions that pop up a few times! I also really like that part where Angel is sitting on the chair and it looks like he's thinking about Faith. The video has so much excellent movement. I love the way you put that SCene of Faith remembering killing that guy just before that scene of Angel look at The First as Jenny Calendar. That was a really cool parallel you drew between them there!
Kaycee: Cool video! I liked the various effects you used on the clips, especially the glow. The "trying to forget" part around 3:30 was a perfect idea for Faith! I liked how you showed both characters having to deal with their past mistakes and how they consoled each other. Great work!

I love that even if you use several seconds of a scene there are always several edts within that scene. You just don't waste a second! All those sequences with the repeating black fades are glorious. On that quieter part of the song, all that panning was perfect, and the overlays that cut in and out were perfectly matched to the beats. That kind of precision is not easy! I'm impressed!

I love the colors and overlays and the quick flashes. The whole video has this nightclub feel. At about 2:08 there was this amazing blurry transition that looked just perfect! I love all the extreme zooms on their faces. The way you show so little just adds huge effect. Awesome job!

D & C AWARDS

ROUND 7

28 September 2007

Veronica & Logan - Secret Smile
The song choice of this video was absolutely perfect! It fit the character and relationship between the pair so well. Your clip selection and effects were impressive with this video. The entire piece was wonderful, but Ill pick out a few places that I liked the most. I really liked the clip you used at .28, and the effect! It matched the beat and lyrics to the song nicely and was a good demonstration of what their relationship is like. At 48 seconds into this, you had me totally sold on your video. That scene was so powerful and the fact that the music became more intense at that point made me fall completely into your vid. It was a great clip to show how much he needs her and depends on her. The words Losing really came to life thanks to your selection there. The scenes at 58 seconds into this video were also equally fitting of the music and also the relationship they have. The effects you used, graying some of the clip also fit nicely, wonderful choice there! You had another very powerful point at 1.27, when the lyrics were save me and you matched this with Logans desperate scene at the hotel. The desperation of the clip only enhanced that of the song at that point. Great choice! At 2.41, when the lyrics are Im losing, you really drew me in there, again with your great selection of clips. Heartbreaking, that moment, and it was so fitting there. I really liked the ending of this video as well, when the song was winding down at around 3.40, when you started showing clips of the pair in between clips of Logan fighting Pizz. The effect you used, making them black and white and lots of happy moments in between the punches Im not sure why this worked so well in all honesty! But it really did. I felt like it was a good way to close the video. As for the style of this video, as I mentioned in some of the specific places, I really enjoyed the black and white coloring that you added to certain points of the video and your overall clip selection. This was very well-made! Overall this is a very powerful, emotionally-pulling video. You should be proud of this, excellent work! Thanks for entering! - Dooski

BEST OF THE BEST ROUND

2 April 2008

Veronica & Logan - Secret Smile
This video is still my favorite Veronica and Logan vid! The song you chose fits their relationship so well, and you did an excellent job with the clip selection and effects. Firstly, I like the simple opening, showing a few scenes of them where they were in one of their I love you but I wont admit it phases, seeing as it fits the overall theme of the song and vid. The black and white effect you used in this ( really made those sadder moments seem more dramatic (around 1min), so good job on that! And I love that you added a slight glow to the happier scenes (.39 - .5) The clip at 1.28 is really touching and I think is really the selling point of this vid. The ending stands out as well, the mix of the black and white moments in between his heated (one-sided!) fight with Piz. Overall, you did an excellent job of focusing on their relationship through Logans eyes and showing the connection that is still there even when she tries to push it away.

Veronica & Logan - If You Want It To Be Good Girl
I dont know that just anyone could pull off a boy band song like this and make it work, but through your editing, effects, and clip selections, you more than succeeded! I love that you start with scenes of Logan fighting/getting arrested and quickly mix that up with scenes of them together. As for your editing, I really liked how you matched the beats, for example at 2.21 and 3.03. Overall, its just an incredibly fun video and while I wasnt laughing throughout, I was definitely smiling the whole time. Great job! And while I really enjoy your more serious and dramatic videos as well, I would love to see whatever other comical ones you come up with in the future! =)

SUNNYDALE STORIES AWARDS

THE MOVIE VIDEO CHALLENGE

6 October 2007

DRIVER PICS THE MUSIC VIDDING AWARDS

ROUND 7

7 October 2007

Prison Break - Hide U
Brighette: OK, yall are beginning to make me want to give PB another shot this was another fantastic vid! First thought with the very first chord of the song yay, Placebo! Though a very different version than I was expecting! Im not familiar with this remix, Im going to have to go buy it now. Great song choice, it fit the vid so well. I liked how well you managed to cover several genres in this vid. There was so much action, which fit with the quick beats of the song, but there was also a lot of detail on relationships, as well as the drama of the show. It served to really draw me in as a viewer and get caught up in everything going on.

I loved from 0:43-0:52 with the fast editing, and the doorknob turning with the quick flashes from 0:56-0:59 was just amazing! Also, 1:41-1:48, the focus on the cross. Just beautiful. And I liked how you used the similar hands in the air clips leading up to the ending, it tied the stories together visually very well.

Wolfpup: This was a wonderful and unique look at Prison Break. I would never have thought about a vid that focuses on the women behind the men, so to speak, and just how far they would go to protect their loved ones. I loved the amount of energy you were able to capture with this vid, not to mention the clips that you chose! Your use of the music and lyrics was very nicely done and completely kept my attention. Ive actually watched this vid about 10 times already. Overall, it was a great piece of storytelling. Two great big thumbs up from me.

ROUND 8

1 December 2007

Michael & Sara - 4 in the Morning
Brighette: You have done a fantastic job detailing Michael and Saras relationship in just five minutes. The pain and longing, the tenderness and sacrifices come through clearly. I liked the subtle use of color throughout and at your transitions, it added to the feel without distracting. The song choice was unexpected, but you made it work very well for the story you had to tell. With vids like this, Im starting to look forward to when the writers strike gives me the opportunity to go back and give PB a second look!

Wolfpup: The editing of his vid was great and the effects were interesting without being too distracting. With the limited amount of Michael/Sara clips that were given to us during the first two season, I was impressed with the way you managed to edit this vid together without it seeming repetitive. However, it was the clip choices and the story that they told that propels this vid to the top. The heart of this vid was what made it stand out so much. Beautiful job!

ROUND 11

21 January 2008

Faith - Suicide
Brighette: Wow, this was such an intriguing Faith character study, and the editing was just stunning. The opening, with the cut scenes on the beat and the ? I don?t know, I?ll call it shower door effect ? had me wondering what you had up your sleeve for this one, and you definitely did not disappoint. There was so much that caught my eye, but it went so well with the music that it never felt like too much; it?s a fine line to skate in a vid and you managed it quite well. I loved the dancing starting at 0:38, and the blur effect on the beats tied the music and scenes together throughout the whole vid perfectly. And the "slip and slide" at 1:13-1:16 made me smile. The tri-colored graveyard scenes created a trippy horror effect that I really enjoyed. Very nicely done!

Wolfpup: I always like to try and single out specific things in vids when it comes to reviewing for the editing category. But after watching this vid multiple times, I can?t find any one thing that really stands out. The whole vid is beautifully edited from beginning to end: the use of color (or lack thereof), the general action, the music use, the flow. It was all great. Everything from the song choice to the chaos you elicited with the effects fit Faith?s character perfectly.

ROUND 16

27 June 2008

Veroniva & Logan - Secret Smile

Brighette's choice: Ah, Veronica and Logan, what a star crossed pair! This vid made me smile, no pun intended. There was so much angst, but you made us remember the good times, too. These two fought, but that was just part of the passion they had for each other. You have a true knack for taking music and vidding to the emotion behind it; I don?t watch and think about the lyrics, though they are forgotten, but instead I notice the focused theme and how well it flows. Your editing in this one was smooth and simple, without a lot of fancy effects other than the use coloring, which was very well done, but it was fitting with the pace of the music. This was a great overview of their relationship, from start to finish!

DISTORTED LULLABIES AWARDS

ROUND 2

6 November 2007

Lincoln - Silence
Thandie: Wonderful vid, this one. I admit it took a lot to grow on me. The first times I watched it I didn't like it. The song seemed so odd for the show, and the vid was so long...but I watched it a lot of times to be sure I was correct, and I changed my mind. Actually, the song is a pretty good choice for the theme, even if a little slow. And I loved how she edits the thing! The effects are few and far between, but they are lovely and go well with the beats and the right scenes. Now the more I watch it the more I like it, and the only flaw it has is the length, and sadly I think it's something that detracts a lot from the whole. Anyway, if it was a little shorter I'd say it's completely perfect!

ROUND 5

16 April 2008

Michael & Sara - Soulmates Never Die
Up: the contours made your video look like a postcard. Lovely.
Nice song's choice, really, it worked so well with the topic! And tight neat editing and interesting clips contribute
to create a wonderful video :)
Nice effects, I often don't like too many because they seem to ruin the color and the feel of the clips, but you
used some cool and subtle ones here. And wow, how I loved the part from 3.38 on!
Also, when I'll start seriously watching this series, and like it, I'll blame YOU you know!? ;) Oh, and that 'she's
dead Michael' was placed strategically to break my heart with the music, right? Because it did, my heart I mean.
Down: a little too long for someone like me who has the attention span of a gnat.

LADY MANSON AWARDS

ROUND 25

4 February 2008

Buffy - Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone
Fantastic use of this song! I saw the song and summary and pretty much prepared myself for sadness. I really like the transitions and the use of black and white. The transition at the beginning of the video from the tombstone was probably my favorite. I liked that you showed the feelings of all the characters involved within the summer of Buffy being dead. Some of the shots of Dawn were just heartbreaking and very well placed. Excellent clip choice when it comes to pulling at the heartstrings.

CHOSEN ONE AWARDS

ROUND 4

18 April 2008

Buffy & Angel - Missing
I love this song and have contemplated creating a video myself but never thought I could do it justice. I’m glad I didn’t because it would be extremely hard do it better than you did.
I loved the comparison between ‘now and then’ as well as giving the viewer the feeling that Buffy was actually thinking about the past while walking around Angels old room / Buffy’s house. The words worked perfectly with the scenes and the timing of each clip was spot on.

ROUND 8

4 July 2008

Glory - Around the World

I am a big Red Hot Chilli Pepper fan but when I read that you were doing a video to it I thought it would have to be extremely special to pull it off! I wasn’t disappointed!
The opening scene was amazing the way you timed the scenes with the beats. To be so precise must have taken patience and that is where I fail on many of my videos!
It was nice to see Glory in action. She is such a diverse character to work with it must have been a pleasure to produce.

ROUND 12

7 September 2008

Faith & Dean - Just A Friend Of Mine
This video was really well put together and the effects made it believable. I loved the choice of cast and that fact that you stepped outside the norm with it. It would have been easier to cast Angel and Faith together as they shared more screen time but you didn’t and that for me made it more unique. Your editing was that believable at one point I was tempted to go on IMDB to see if Eliza actually appeared on Supernatural!

DIAMOND GALAXY AWARDS

MARCH ROUND

April 2008

Illyria - Incantation
Great action packed vid, with a fantastic, hypnothysing rythm. You use a variety of effects with great skill; you even manage to turn opening credits into mesmerizing visual event, in perfect synch with the music. Very entertaining and masterfully crafted!

Michael & Nika - Strictly Physical
Amazingly sexy and appealing vid, taking advantage of the tone and rythm of the song to a great effect. The idea to combine visuals from different sources was completely ingenious and you matched them seamlessly into one clear, coherent AU story. The black glow and colouring of the clips gives them a very sexy, night-club feel and your zooming and cropping couldn't be better. Absolute top quality entertainment!

BUFFYMANIA AWARDS

ROUND 3

25 June 2008

BtVS & AtS Ladies - I Don't Need A Man
I don't know what it is about your videos, but you have me hooked. I loved every aspect of this video. It was put together so well, and had a sense of humor to it also. This video made me want to get up and dance :) The song was perfect, and you matched everything up perfectly. One word: Perfect. Keep up the great work! :)

ROUND 4

19 July 2008

Illyria - Incantation
This video was pure genius. You're editing was seamless. I love the way you put the struggle between Illyria and Fred. Very well executed.

ROUND 7

11 August 2008

Faith & Dean - Just A Friend of Mine
It's hard for me to root for a Faith/Dean video, just because I am so much for the Buffy/Dean ship. This video, though, was absolutely amazing. I love how you put everything together, the effects, the editing, perfect. I really love how you put the beginning part of Crossroad Blues to match the appropriate parts of the song :)

PATH OF THE HEART VIDDING AWARDS

ROUND 8

20 July 2008

Michael & Sara - Soulmates Never Die
In the end, the vid felt a little repetitive, but there was a clear effort to vary the shots, angle and use effects to make a coherent vid with not so much footage to carry it.

VIDDERS CHOICE AWARD ROUND 8

28 October 2008

Michael & Sara - Soulmates Never Die
Strawberrybisque: I have never watched the show "Prison Break" and I have also never heard this song. That being said this video is the one that moved me the most. I felt like I understood what was happening even though I don't know these characters. I liked the way this video was edited very much in terms of matching scene changes to the music and/or lyric. The over lapping of scenes was good without going overboard and I felt the song and the scenes on the screen really worked together quite nicely. I really felt this was a well put together video and I enjoyed despite not knowing the song or characters. To me that set it apart from the others.

RandHrShipper1: This is an exceptional vid, Lady_m4ryjane! I may be a bit biased because I love this couple, particularly because Wentworth Miller just has some magnetic pull for me!!, but I think every aspect here was well done. The song was an excellent choice, and the timing througout emphasized that, while the transitions were good, too. I also especially like the clip choices, like the one that corresponded with "Damn the government", etc! Overall, work you should be completely proud of!

Loopyallie: I have never seen Prison Break, I am wasn't going to be biased as I am familiar with other entries...  I only look in a the quality of video making and I found this one exceptional, the editing and effect is wow especially mixing three (I think three) clips in one also I can tell the story you are producing.  Again I haven't heard the song before and I liked it, the music went very well with it.  Excellent piece of work!
